We are looking for someone who would like to join our team for 6-12 months, who will help to ensure the smooth operation of UmPhafa on a day-to-day basis. This can include anything from working with the short-term interns, assisting the Internship Coordinator & Reserve Managers.
Working Environment:
This is a serious position and not a holiday. Your time will be split between office administration and assisting with the intern programme.
Accommodation:
You will have your own room (when possible) and will share bathroom with other interns.
Food:
Included with the intern programme.
Cost:
You will need to pay a deposit of R1,000 per month up front for your whole stay (6-12 months). You will then be reimbursed R1,000 per month to use as a monthly stipend for each month you complete the role. If you leave before the agreed termination date of the position, then any remaining funds are used as a donation to the running of the UmPhafa Private Nature Reserve.
Visa:
As this is a long term position, you will need to get a volunteer visa before you arrive in South Africa and we will provide you with an invitation letter to support your application.
Working Hours:
Mon – Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm – Weekends off, although you may be asked to work outside of these hours depending on the intern programme.
Time Off:
You will be able to have time off every couple of months.
This role will include:
Assisting the Reserve Managers and Intern Coordinator.
Responsible for weekly reports and updates.
Assisting with finances.
Manage and sell any merchandise/curios.
General office duties.
Criteria:
You must be able to work well with other people.
You must be adaptable – your day-to-day tasks will often change.
You must manage your time and priorities well.
You must be fluent in English.
You must be confident with computers and Microsoft Office.
You must be confident with social media platforms.
Previous experience working in an office & bush environment is strongly preferred.
Driving licence is preferred.
