On the 6th July, a group of 45 impala were released onto Colchester Zoo’s UmPhafa Private Nature Reserve!
This release will bring the population of impala on UmPhafa to over 200 in total! In recent years, the number of impala births on UmPhafa has decreased, so it is hoped that by bringing this new mixed group, we can encourage further breeding amongst this species on the reserve.
Did you know? The impala is a noisy antelope but also well known for its leaping and high kicks!
