African Painted Dogs - UmPhafa

UmPhafa is delighted to announce the arrival of one of Africa’s most iconic predators. A pair of female African Painted Dogs (Lycaon pictus) have arrived to us from Tembe Elephant park as part of Southern Africa’s major conservation effort to help temporarily house and relocate packs of dogs.

On 8th March, they were released into our boma, and after a tentative start, they have gradually become accustomed to their new environment and are in brilliant condition. It is our interns’ duty to help monitor the safety and well being of the dogs during their time here.

We at UmPhafa and Action For The Wild are proud once again to be part of this vital conservation initiative to help preserve South Africa’s most endangered carnivore.
