Once again here at UmPhafa we have the privilege of taking care of 3 Wild Dogs to support the National Wild Dog Metapopulation Initiative.
The three sisters, Flame, Manya & Meva arrived at UmPhafa in June and have been settling in well in our acclimatisation Boma. They have travelled all the way from Hluhluwe Game Reserve in Zululand where they have been for the last 10 months.
Their pack consisted of these females together with their male offspring, so as part of the initiative they were split from their sons to introduce new genetics to each group, thus helping to continue the protection and survival of the species.
We are looking after the sisters for the next two to three months until a new pack of males is ready for them to join!
We will keep you updated on their progress!
