This month we have been lucky to have the support of an organisation called ‘SAVSIM’, they are a non-profit organisation focused on global wildlife conservation.
They partner with organisations such as UmPhafa who want to implement change and take advantage of the skills and experiences that veterans have to offer to improve the Security for Wildlife Protected areas.
Alan, a veteran from the Royal Anglian regiment, spent 2 weeks with our Field Rangers teaching, enhancing and training our team on a variety of skills and techniques to enhance the security on the Reserve. It ranged from how to keep fit, to firearm training, to ambush and patrolling techniques, how to efficiently pack your kit bag and importantly how to defend from armed and unarmed poachers.
The Field Rangers were enthusiastic and felt they learnt many new skills and techniques over the 2 weeks. Each Ranger was presented with a certificate of competence once the course was completed.
We cannot Thank Alan and the team from SAVSIM enough for their support, time and experience which has already made a difference to Umphafa’s Field Rangers
